Tactile floors
ISO Code: 12.39.18
Tatile floors are embossed applications on the pavement for the guidance and safety of blind or low-vision people. In large spaces, such as train stations or large sidewalks, it is difficult for a blind person to find his or her way. The lack of references and the loud noise contribute to disorientation and increased anxiety.
The guidance system consists of raised lines placed in the direction of movement, which indicate the safe path to the destination. The tactile floor produces a disturbing attachment in the feet, enough to indicate to the person that they are on the right and safe path. The use of a cane reinforces this indication through touch and produces sound through the cane tip.
Directional lines can be applied individually or on plates. Ideally, they should be in a contrasting colour with the existing floor.
